Nominations for Meritorious Service Award

Please use the nomination form accessible through the link above to submit nominations for the North Central Section Meritorious Service Award.  We are confident that there many individuals in our section who excel in their service to the profession, but we need your help to identify and nominate them for the recognition that they deserve.

Anyone may nominate an individual for this award, but nominations are especially solicited from department chairs and MAA liaisons from departments in the section.  Even if a nominee is not selected for the award this year, it is an honor for the individual to be nominated, and the same person can be nominated again in a later year.

To complete the nomination process, simply complete the form linked above and upload a letter that describes your nominee's contributions to the profession.  If you have any questions about the nomination process, please contact the chair of the selection committee, Justin James (jamesju@mnstate.edu).

Nominations are due on or before February 15, 2024. Please note that self-nomination is not allowed, and nominees must hold membership in the Mathematical Association of America.

Nominees should:

  • Be recognized as providing documentable meritorious service to entities including but not limited to:

    • their department,

    • the Mathematical Association of America,

    • the Mathematical Association of America, North Central Section, and

    • the Mathematics profession.

  • Service can be in many categories including, but not limited to:

    • governance and administration,

    • mentoring of faculty,

    • organization of activities, programs, or conferences for members of the profession, and

    • organization of activities, programs, or conferences for students of mathematics.

The selection committee for the Meritorious Service Award is comprised of the Section's President-Elect, Member-at-Large in their first term and the two most recent Award winners, other than the President-Elect.
